Railroad maintenance for a big example is supposed to be managed by the Federal Dept of Transportation. When it was managed by the states, there were few accidents. Then the Feds cut out the States, claiming it was Interstate commerce, and 2)

since 2009 mostly, the number of problems escalated - mostly because Rail companies became big donors to politicians. Trump cut the bureaucracy by 30%, and cut regulations in the area of paperwork required. Regulations were never changed on areas of care and maintenance. 3)
